Prior legal cases and international reactions

Another militant formerly involved with the group, Lina E, became a symbolic figure within certain radical left communities following her 2023 guilty verdict for targeting suspected right-wing individuals.

The US designation makes group members ineligible to enter the United States, blocks financial holdings they could possess within the world’s largest economy and makes it illegal offering assistance to them.

The German right-wing AfD party welcomed the US decision and called on the German administration to follow suit. In contrast, the German foreign ministry merely commented it had “taken note” of the American classification.

“The threat posed by the organization has substantially diminished lately. The ringleaders and most aggressive participants have either received convictions or remain detained.”
